The team at MIPCN speaks a variety of languages and The Director-Abeer Saqer– is keen to receive and accompany the patients from the moment of arrival to facilitate the cultural and social transition and to provide medical and supplementary services that include the following:
- Reviews patient records prior to arrival
- Prepares pre-arrival cost estimates when needed
- Identifies appropriate specialist(s) and arranges appointments with physicians and consultants
- Coordinates care among specialists to ensure full comprehensive communications
- Arranges travel and accommodations at the airport upon arrival to expedite customs
- Arranges for accommodations at the hospital and around the city
- Arranges for accommodations for VIP Patients at the hospital and around the city
- Assists with pre-registration, appointment schedule
- Facilitates access to medical records expeditiously
- Provides interpretation and translation services
- Provides for special religious and cultural needs and diets
- Provides lists of places to visit while in Houston, including shopping, restaurants, hotels, local events, travel agency information, catering and many more
- Follows up with patient’s home physicians to coordinate treatment when traveling back
Medical Services
To ensure that the outcome of your treatment is as successful as possible, it is important to take the following steps:
Before Appointment
- Bring your passport and attached visa.
- Please make sure that all your medical reports are organized by date.
- Please prepare a CD (compact disk) or USB flash drive containing all your reports and films.
- Cancer patients must bring all pathology slides, paraffin blocks, and reports. Your doctors in America will require a second review to confirm your initial diagnosis.
- When transporting your medicine to the country, please bring the original boxes or take a picture of each medication you are currently prescribed to.
- Bring a comfortable jacket to stay warm. The hospital is always cold.
- Prepare your questions in a notebook.
- Take the business card of each member of your medical team to familiarize yourself with their names and titles.
- Save the contact information of your International Patient Coordinator to ensure you always stay connected.
- Follow your schedule and inform your International Patient Coordinator If you want to reschedule.
During The Appointment
- Arrive at least 30 minutes before your examination to complete your application with the international patient coordinator.
- Have a family member or relative take notes during the appointment.
- Do not tell your specialists what you think you may have. Just tell him/her what is wrong and let your doctors do their work. They are here for you.
- Carefully listen to what your doctor tells you during the appointment, you can ask your questions at the end.
- Be brief. Do not tell your specialists long stories.
- Wear comfortable clothes.
- Always keep your ID on you at all times.
- Always keep your past medical reports with you in order to provide your doctor with a full and detailed medical history.
- Do not be ashamed or embarrassed by the way your doctor looks or speaks.
- It is highly recommended to follow-up with your appointment visits after the surgery, keep on following doctor’s instructions, and take your medications on time.
